Presented by the Long Island Youth Safety Coalition
Rick Collins will be a featured speaker at tomorrow’s Sports Safety Conference being presented by the Long Island Youth Safety Coalition. Rick will be speaking at a session entitled“Your Kids on Steroids” – where he will address the prevalence, motivation, medical risks and legal consequences of steroids in youth sports today.
The Sports Safety Conference is being held on Thursday, April 11th at Hofstra University from 8:30 am. until 3:00 p.m. The program will feature a number of presenters and workshops addressing today’s most critical topics in youth sports safety and how to keep our youth physically and ethically safe on the field. In addition to the full day of programming and presentations, the conference will include opening remarks from District Attorney Kathleen Rice, and feature a keynote address from WFAN’s Rick Wolff, a nationally known expert in the field of sports psychology and sports parenting.
Cost for the conference is $15, which includes registration, continental breakfast and catered lunch. The conference is being offered at a reduced cost through funding from District Attorney Kathleen Rice, Anaconda Sports and Molloy College and luncheon sponsor Collins, McDonald & Gann.
In addition to addressing the issue of steroids in youth sports and discussing the ATLAS and ATHENA programs, Rick will field questions from attendees about teens and steroids. As a well-known authority in the area of steroids and the law, Rick has written a treatise on steroid legalities and contributed chapters to two texts on sports nutrition. In addition, he has coauthored a chapter on adolescent use of performance-enhancing drugs in the book Interventions for Addiction, which has just been published.
