As Part of Natural Products Day in Washington, D.C., Rick Meets with Key Legislators to Discuss Current Issues Facing the Supplement Industry
Last week, Rick Collins joined with other leaders of the dietary supplement industry for two days of meetings on Capitol Hill – working to educate lawmakers and congressional staff members about some of the important issues facing the supplement industry today. The effort was part of the 19th Annual Natural Products Day, an advocacy conference hosted by the Natural Products Association gathering leaders in the supplement industry nationwide for the opportunity to educate members of Congress and legislative staff about the vital role of natural products.
After a day of meetings and introductory remarks by Dr. Daniel Fabricant, Executive Director and CEO of the Natural Products Association, Rick spent Wednesday April 13th on Capitol Hill meeting with legislators and staff from the New York districts. Rick met directly with Sen Charles Schumer, Rep. Carolyn Maloney and Rep. Kathleen Rice, along with staffers for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Rep. Peter King and Rep. Nita Lowey.
Natural Products Day provided an important opportunity for Rick and other leaders in the dietary supplement industry, such as his legal colleagues Marc Ullman and Steven Shapiro, to advocate for natural products and directly communicate with lawmakers who can shape the supplement industry. In addition to adding their strong voices in advocating for the supplement industry, Natural Products Day also provided an opportunity to build important relationships with key members of Congress and lawmakers, working to cultivate future champions of the industry.
Last week was a great opportunity for Rick to continue his longtime work as an advocate for the supplement industry and be part of this important effort on behalf of the NPA. As one of the most established attorneys in the supplement industry, Rick continues to be a strong advocate in the natural products arena everyday — whether on Capitol Hill or in providing legal insight to dietary supplement companies across the country.
